A leading Spanish equestrian center will house the world’s largest âremovableâ indoor arena.
The center based in Vejer de la Frontera, Dehesa Montenmedio, host of the Sunshine Tour, has invested 750,000 euros (£ 640,000) in the construction of a new indoor arena measuring 90x45m. The arena, which is a tent-like structure rather than a fixed one, will be added to the 20 grass and sand arenas at the site.
A spokesperson for the center said the arena, which will be used for the first time in January 2022, will allow competitions to be held when weather conditions are not favorable and that it offers “great versatility and functionality” in because of its “collapsible nature”.
âIt has a two-layer roof of PVC-coated polyester textile membrane with high-frequency welded keder. The two layers form an air chamber which provides high thermal insulation and wind resistance, âsaid the spokesperson, who said H&H that the center does not have a building permit, so they cannot build an arena with a fixed structure.
Sunshine Tour director Teresa Blazquez said the new arena was âthe icing on the cakeâ for the center.
âOne of the keys to the success of the Sunshine Tour is that in the rest of the world it is impossible to compete on outdoor tracks. [all year round] because of the climate, we are the oasis of Europe. Everyone knows that with us it is the guarantee of being able to compete outdoors, which is essential for young horses. Inexperienced horses come to the circuit and leave Montenmedio in great shape. Now, with the new hall, we are giving them the opportunity to alternate the indoor arena with the others.
The spokesperson added that the president of the Spanish Equestrian Federation Javier Revuelta “verified first-hand” the execution of the project and was “very satisfied” that the Spanish equestrian sport has a new facility of this “magnitude and reach “, providing a” definitive boost “. »So that the circuit is established among the world elite of equestrian facilities.
