The city is preparing to unveil three concepts for the new Savannah Arena project.
Design contractor Perkins + Will evaluated responses from online surveys and town halls to create the concepts.
Two meetings will be held on October 30 to discuss the Civic Center and the future design of the arena.
On Tuesday at 4:00 p.m., the Urban Land Institute will present a preliminary report of the highest and best utilization for the redevelopment of the Civic Center site. Urban Land Institute is a non-profit organization that provides research and advisory services on real estate development and urban policy.
This will be held during a special council workshop in the Civic Center ballroom.
At 6:30 p.m., the city will unveil the exterior and interior fittings of the Civic Center ballroom. The design team will ask residents to weigh in on each concept and in turn work to incorporate the positive elements into a final design.
The city has not set a date for the final design. They say it will be presented to the board for approval in the coming months.
The city says it hopes to have the Savannah Arena under construction by mid-2019. The $ 160 million, 260,000 sq.ft./ft. The SPLOST project will serve as an entertainment venue to host sporting events, concerts and shows.
